Cosmetic Acupuncture Before and After: The Subtle Changes I Noticed
I started giving myself cosmetic acupuncture about twice a week.
Nothing elaborate—about 30 minutes. Needles in. Rest.
After the first treatment, I noticed my eyes looked more open, the redness in my face had settled, and I looked a little more awake.
It wasn’t dramatic, but I could see it.
So I kept going.

What I noticed as I continued
The changes were subtle but cumulative. My skin looked brighter, my face softer and less tired, and the redness continued to settle.
Then I put the photos next to each other.
Oh. There it is.

That’s what I love about cosmetic acupuncture.
I don’t want to look like a different person or erase being 41, being a mom, or having lived a full life.
I want to look vibrant in the life I’m actually living.
Who is cosmetic acupuncture for?
Cosmetic acupuncture may be a good fit if you want to support your skin’s natural vitality without changing the way you look.
Many women seek it for:
- Fine lines and early signs of aging
- Dull or tired-looking skin
- Puffiness or facial tension
- Jaw tension or clenching
- Uneven-looking tone
- Skin that feels less vibrant
- A desire to look refreshed and more like themselves
It can be especially appealing if you want a gradual, natural-looking approach rather than an invasive procedure or an overdone result.
Cosmetic acupuncture isn’t about perfection or stopping the aging process. It’s about supporting your skin, circulation and overall well-being so you can look as vibrant as you feel—or want to feel.
I kept my treatments really basic
I wasn’t treating myself the way I treat my clients.
I wasn’t doing a full East Asian medicine assessment or choosing individualized body acupuncture based on my sleep, hormones, digestion, stress or daily needs. I also wasn’t consistently adding facial gua sha or cupping.
Honestly, most days it was:
I have 30 minutes. Get the needles in. 😂
And I still saw change.
It reminded me of something I tell my clients:
You don’t have to do everything perfectly. Consistency matters.
The part you can’t see in the photos
Twice a week, I gave myself 30 minutes when I wasn’t doing anything for anyone else.
Sometimes I thought about work. Sometimes I did nothing. Either way, I was making space to pay attention to my body.
When you’re a mom, working, building things, training and caring for others, that space matters.
I don’t want less from my life so I can feel less overwhelmed.
I want more capacity for the life I love.
That’s part of what these treatments have become for me.
What can you expect from cosmetic acupuncture at JungWay?
Cosmetic acupuncture uses fine needles on the face to support skin vitality, facial circulation and areas of muscular tension. Research is still developing, and results vary.
At JungWay Acupuncture & Wellness, treatment is individualized rather than one-size-fits-all.
Your first visit includes a conversation about your goals, health history, stress, sleep, digestion, hormones and areas of tension or imbalance. From there, your treatment plan may combine facial acupuncture with individualized body acupuncture, facial gua sha or cupping when appropriate.
This whole-body approach matters because your face isn’t separate from the rest of you. Stress, poor sleep, hormonal changes, jaw tension and feeling depleted can all affect how you experience your skin and appearance.
Sometimes transformation isn’t dramatic.
Your eyes look brighter. Your face feels softer. You have a little more energy, peace and capacity.
And one day you look back and realize:
There it is.
That’s the kind of transformation I’m interested in.
